Nails & PFW

I've been kind of lazy lately when it comes to my nails, opting for a couple quick coats of whatever I pluck out of my collection that does not offend me at that moment and then wearing that color until it chips. And then for like a week after.

The last compliment I received on my nail color was a couple weeks ago when I was at Ulta and the woman at the register was like "Ooooh, I like your nailpolish!" and I whipped my hand back into my bag before she could get too good a look because my nails were so, so chipped, and at a beauty store? How embarrassing. I was wearing Zoya's Luna, one of the polishes I got during their most recent 3 free bottles promotion and I took a photo of it on but I won't post it here because, god, my cuticles, you guys.

But it's a really pretty grey polish with silver glitter, and is way more interesting than just DIY-ing grey polish with silver glitter overlay, therefore unique enough to add to my collection. See how I can justify things like that? So easy.

So it's Paris Fashion Week again, and today Gareth Pugh showed another incredible collection, as usual. And I adore it, as usual. I'm just as fascinated with the nails the models wore as I am with the garments.

That is some marbley corpse gorgeousness, right there. MAC says that you can get the look with by mixing Nocturnelle Nail Lacquer & Frozen White Pigment, but I know I'd make a mess of that, so no.

Right now I am wearing one of my favorite polishes, OPI's Skull and Glossbones, which I love because it is both a beautiful color and easy to apply as well as remove. Maybe once this chips I'll get brave and un-lazy and try something interesting?

nail polish review: orly "space cadet"

i was scrolling through ontd the other day and came across this post about the e! "mani cam" at the emmys a couple weeks ago (dumb or kind of awesome?) where people started commenting with what they were currently wearing on their nails. someone posted that they were wearing m.a.c's mean and green and i instantly fell in love but then got really sad when i realized that i'd clearly chosen to buy the wrong polish from that collection. i bought formidable! instead of mean and green and i'm only so-so on it. luckily i found out that there is a dupe for mean and green - orly space cadet. so naturally that meant that i immediately ran to ulta to find it and was so happy when i spotted it on the shelf!

it's a duochrome which means it changes color depending on how the light hits it. i was hoping it would be more pink and green like the photo on ontd but it seems to lean more purple. that's okay though because it's really gorgeous!

these photos are with three days of wear and so far it's chip-free (as orly polishes generally are for me). there is a little minor tip wear but then again i don't wrap my tips because i am layyyzeeee, so.

as always, i used my favorite sally hansen base coat and seche vite top coat.

this is a nail polish post

OPI, are you for REAL with these names? because i'm dying.

i wish i liked these colors more because i would be ALL OVER this collection based on the theme alone. i'll probably at least end up getting "danke-shiny red" (hahaha, that NAME!) because i'm a sucker for a good red polish.

also, are you also for real, china glaze? i have to wait until SPRING 2013 for your "hologlam" holographic collection!!?! do i look like someone with that kind of patience?!

source: the gloss menagerie
these look so, so amazing. i've been looking for a good holographic polish and they seem to be kind of hard to find. i can't wait until these come out! i hope i'm still as excited about them by then.

lastly, i tried doing freehand leopard print nails last week and i think they came out great! i think this is one of the first nail tutorials where the technique was pretty much just as easy to execute as advertised.

i followed this tutorial and i used some old paper embossing tools i had lying around as dotting tools because they're basically the same thing. i really love the way this looks and i think i'll try out some other color combos.

June Wants

some current material goods i'm dreaming about. i especially love the deux lux bag. i really want to own a basket weave handbag and i love that this one is made from "vegan leather material". leather is nice, but so is not feeling guilty!

the obsession continues...

i've added quite a few new bottles of nail polish to my assortment since i made that post awhile back with photos of my entire collection. here are the new additions!

essie: shine of the times, as gold as it gets, a cut above, set in stones

so sparkly!

dior: rock coat, new world purple chanel: peridot illamasqua: load
butter london: knees up, bumster, blagger

essie: sexy divide, marshmallow, cherry pop, after sex (some of these names are awful, i know)

china glaze: lubu heels, tinsel town, vintage

sally hansen: celeb city, mint sprint (a repeat, oops!), big money

my standys! sally hansen complete care 4-in-1 treatment and seche vite

there are a few amazing polishes and a few disappointments as well, but all in all, i think i've got a pretty amazing collection so far!

purple and gold

i'm kind of obsessed with the essie "luxeffects" collection right now. after searching several stores for it last night, i finally found a giant, untouched display of them at walgreens, of all places!
i instinctively grabbed a handful of bottles in my excitement, but then came to my senses and only purchased one ("as gold as it gets", on far left). i'm wearing it today over essie's "sexy divide"

and this is the result:

(sorry for the terrible looking nail situation. i'm working on rehabbing them at the moment.) it really doesn't look that great there and although it does look better in person, it's still not exactly what i had in mind when i decided i wanted gold over purple. so i need to just keep playing around with it.

i think i might pick up a bottle of "shine of the times" (second in from left) and give that one a try!

robot space nails

i finally had a chance to paint my nails with my new chanel "graphite" polish last night. it is honestly the prettiest polish i've seen in a long time. it's almost blinding in the sun!

love love love :)

my nail polish collection is really getting out of hand. it's so bad that i think i might actually invest in one of these babies pretty soon:

$35.99 @ amazon.com

i guess if i do get one of those, i'll finally have to admit defeat. oh well :)
